chakras for beginners
What are chakras?
Chakras are energy centers in the body that are said to correspond to different organs, emotions, and aspects of our being. The word "chakra" comes from Sanskrit and means "wheel." There are seven main chakras, each with its own unique color, location, and function.
The seven chakras:
- Root Chakra (Muladhara): Located at the base of the spine, the root chakra is associated with our sense of security, grounding, and survival. When balanced, we feel safe, supported, and connected to the earth. When imbalanced, we may experience fear, anxiety,or instability.
- Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana): Located below the belly button, the sacral chakra is associated with our creativity, sensuality, and emotions. When balanced, we feel creative, passionate, and emotionally connected. When imbalanced, we may experience shame, guilt,or difficulty expressing our emotions.
- Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura): Located in the upper abdomen, the solar plexus chakra is associated with our personal power, confidence, and self-esteem. When balanced,we feel confident, assertive, and in control of our lives. When imbalanced, we may experience low self-esteem, lack of confidence, or difficulty making decisions.
- Heart Chakra (Anahata): Located in the center of the chest, the heart chakra is associated with our love, compassion, and forgiveness. When balanced, we feel love for ourselves and others, and we are able to give and receive compassion. When imbalanced, we may experience difficulty loving ourselves or others, or we may hold onto anger or resentment.
- Throat Chakra (Vishuddha): Located in the throat, the throat chakra is associated with our communication, self-expression, and truth. When balanced, we are able to communicate effectively and express ourselves authentically. When imbalanced, we may have difficulty speaking our truth, or we may experience shyness or anxiety in social situations.
- Third Eye Chakra (Ajna): Located between the eyebrows, the third eye chakra is associated with our intuition, imagination, and insight. When balanced, we have a strong intuition and are able to see things clearly. When imbalanced, we may have difficulty trusting our intuition or seeing the bigger picture.
- Crown Chakra (Sahasrara): Located at the crown of the head, the crown chakra is associated with our connection to the divine, spirituality, and enlightenment. When balanced,we feel connected to something larger than ourselves and experience a sense of inner peace. When imbalanced, we may feel disconnected from our spirituality or have difficulty finding meaning in life.
